THEY share the same family name, attended the same class stream at Nabisunsa Girls’ School in Kampala and apparently have the same goals. But they are not relatives. Even their family homes are miles apart.
The two girls caused wild cheers and applause at their respective homes when they were proclaimed among Kampala’s best students in the 2003 O’ Level exams, whose results were released last evening.
One of them, Janet Namutebi, 17 is the reigning national junior tennis champion, with 16 trophies up her sleeve. The other Catherine Namutebi, is younger at 16. She has been helping in the family business during her vacation.
“I just feel... Well, I don’t know,†is all a shy Janet could mutter when The New Vision visited her family home on Rubaga Road on the outskirts of Kampala.
But Catherine said, “I am excited! This is not what I expected. The last mocks were very tough. I don’t know what to say.â€
Catherine was sorting out papers in her father’s printery business, Nice Print.
Nabisunsa’s best have same name.
