THE quest for a physically fit Police Force began taking shape Friday with a sh40m donation of gymnasium equipment to the force by Asiatic Sports, dealers in sports equipment.

THE quest for a physically fit Police Force began taking shape Friday with a sh40m donation of gymnasium equipment to the force by Asiatic Sports, dealers in sports equipment.
The managing director, Asiatic Sports, Rajan Singh handed over an assortment of electrical and manual gymnasium equipment to Police chief, Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala at Club 5, Makerere University.
“A healthy mind is inseparable from a healthy body. Policemen/ women need not only be alert but also physically fit through exercise,” Singh said as he handed over the first batch of the equipment.
It is expected that by working gradually on the modern equipment, police officers will be turned into epitomes of physical fitness, a necessity in keeping criminals at bay.
“As investors, there can not be development with out peace and security,” the boss of the 13-year-old firm said.
More than 50 senior police officers including the Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) boss, David Magara turned up for the function.
