TEENAGE star Janet Namutebi was in astonishing form, making easy work of top seed Rosette Musoke to win the Nomi Open Tennis tournament at Lugogo courts yesterday.
Namutebi, 17, humbled seasoned Musoke 6-1 6-2 in one hour to earn sh0.1m courtesy of the tournament sponsor, Mukwano Industries.
The Nabisunsa Girls School senior four leaver was surprised by the ease with which the top seed fell.
“I expected her to play better than that. I have been training hard, she gave me a few hard times,” said Namutebi.
Godfrey Uzunga defeated Robert Buyinza in straight sets to register his maiden victory in a career spanning close to a decade. Buyinza changed his name from Herbert to Robert.
Uzunga beat Buyinza 6-2 6-3 6-3 in two hours to pocket the top prize of sh0.2m while Buyinza settled for sh0.1m.
Players were also rewarded with Mukwano Industries products at the prize-giving ceremony of the Uganda Tennis Association organised event.
