THE old broom knows all the corners, it is said, and URA benefited from that yesterday.
Reliable marksman David Kiwanuka has seen it all in the league for years and showed that by striking the two goals as URA got the better of Top TV at Namboole stadium.
Kiwanuka’s second half brace dumped Top Tv whose miseries on the day were further compounded by coach Sam Simbwa’s send off, barely a day after the he had a two year suspension lifted.
Two special moments of trickery from David Kalungi helped the hosts find the net through Kiwanuka.
The result sent URA to third place on the Top Radio Super League table, three points behind giants KCC FC and five behind top placed SC Villa. Villa have 15 points from five games.
In the Municipal stadium Mbale, Chris Doka’s late second half strike earned Heroes only their second win in five games. Debutantes Moyo FC are yet to get a win.
Unlike last season, the so-called small teams in the league are playing much more seriously and are harder to beat this time round.
Villa, Express and KCC, used to having their way, have all hard to grind out results against supposedly weaker opponents. KCC were the latest victims, being held by the veterans of Ggaba to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, today’s super league fixture at Namboole stadium pits two of the country’s customary underachievers’ Police against Simba SC.
