KAMPALA — The parliamentary groups of Lango, Acholi and Teso are to meet President Yoweri Museveni to develop a common approach to the Kony war and its effects. This was revealed during a meeting with security state minister Betty Akech Okullo on Wednesday. They said public debates on security matters should be regulated.

Women’s Day
KAMPALA — The permanent secretary in the gender ministry, Ralph Ochan, has said International Women’s day celebrations will be held at Kamuli district headquarters on Monday. The Theme this year is, “Women and HIV/AIDS: Challenges and the Way forward,” he said in statement on Tuesday.

‘MPs weak’
BUSHENYI — Democratic party secretary in the district William Mukaira has said Parliament is powerless. He said in an interview on Wednesday that this could be seen in the way the Cabinet challenged its decision that northern Uganda be declared a disaster area.

LCs resist
MBALE — Pallisa district executive committee members recently filed a petition at the High Court in Mbale, challenging their removal from office. The committee claimed that their removal from office was unconstitutional. They said the motion of censure that removed them from office was not debated nor resolved.
