KIBAALE district council has earmarked sh948m for constructing a 9.5km access road to Ndaiga landing site on Lake Albert.
The LC5 chairman, George William Namyaka, recently said the road would enable fish traders to easily access the landing site.
Namyaka said they were targeting markets across the border especially those in Congo.
He said the district had got sh639m of the money needed for the construction from the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the rest would come from local revenues.
Namyaka said the road would bring in more revenue and increase job opportunities.
aale district is one of the leading districts with fertile soils in the western region. It produces a variety of crops but poor roads limit market of the produce.
