The ‘Force Lumala Back Operation’ has succeeded.
National rally champion Moses Lumala (right) bowed to pressure from fans yesterday and agreed to return to the sport 60 days after he quit.
“There is too much pressure, wherever I go people ask me to come back. I am back to entertain my fans and enjoy myself,” he said.
Charlie Lubega is said to have played a big part, by cleverly inviting Lumala for a test run in his Mitsubishi Evo4 at Garuga on Sunday.
With the roar of the car on his mind, Lumala had a sleepless night.
“It (rallying) is an addiction. When the car is still there, just looking at the good tyres makes you feel like rallying,” he admitted.
Lumala will participate in the MOSAC-Akright 2004 rally this weekend. He will drive a new-look white Toyota Celica ST185.
Meanwhile, the MOSAC-Akright 2004 rally has landed sh2m sponsorship from Stone Concrete.
Stone Concrete marketing manager Priyangkumar Patel yesterday handed over the cheque to Motor Sport Africa Club (MOSAC) vice president Herbert Rutagwera at Akright Project head office in Kampala.
“We are proud to work with Akright which has given us a great opportunity to be associated with MOSAC,” Patel said.
Rutagwera hailed Akright for encouraging their business associates, Stone Concrete to support the rally. Akright Project and Inland Car Depot operators, Trans-sahara International, are the other sponsors of the third NRC event.
