THE parliamentary committee on finance, planning and economic development has summoned Attorney General Francis Ayume, state minister for finance Mwesigwa Rukutana and that for agriculture Kibirige Ssebunya over the BIDCO oil refinery agreement with the Government.

The committee was reviewing the legality of the agreement on Wednesday and said some of the provisions in it were not in line with the Constitution.

The motion tabled by James Mwandha proposed that the AG and other ministers who signed the agreement be summoned to explain how it was arrived at.

“Before any decision is taken, the Attorney General should explain his legal opinion of the deal,” Mwandha said.
