THE Vice President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has said the proposal by the Buganda Kingdom to start a university was long overdue.

“I strongly support the idea and when it officially comes to my office, I will do the needful,” Bukenya said on Saturday during a graduation party for Buganda education minister, John Muyingo.

Muyingo said it was high time the kingdom established its own university to pave the way for faster development and ensure sustained leadership.

“We need a university of our own that we can be proud of. I have always said education will bring our kingdom to its past glory,” Muyingo said.

Bukenya commended Muyingo for attaining a PhD and urged others to follow his example.
