THE Parliamentary Advocacy Forum (PAFO) has said they will prosecute the people who mobbed them at a recent Jinja meeting if the Government fails to do so.
PAFO chairman and MP for Ruhaama county, Augustine Ruzindana (right), said recently that PAFO was giving the Government the benefit of ae doubt.
“We shall definitely prosecute our attackers if we see that the Police are failing. We cannot let criminals go scot-free,†he said.
“There is a provision for private prosecution if the agencies responsible fail to do their job,†Ruzindana said.
PAFO members were attacked and beaten on March 6 as they held a seminar in Jinja.
Ruzindana said the Police were continuing with investigations and needed to be given reasonable time.
“When enough time has elapsed, we can apply to the Director of Public Prosecutions to take up the case,†he said.
The group, opposed to the lifting of the third term limit for the presidency, insist that state energy minister Daudi Migereko and Jinja Town mayor David Wakudumira organised the violence.
Parliament last week appointed a special select committee to probe the matter. Among other things, the committee will investigate allegations that the MPs may have stage-managed the chaos.
