CECILIA Ogwal, Lira Municipality MP, was evicted from the Uganda House complex because her group was using her company business, Rosmonic Enterprises limited, as a springboard to “resolve” political wrangles, the Commercial Court has heard on Monday.

Celestino Darasson Mindra, the general manager of Milton Obote Foundation (MOF), owners of the Uganda House and many other subsidiary companies, however, told Justice Stella Arach-Amoko that they did not evict Ogwal’s company because of political motives.

“We had no ulterior motives in evicting Rosmonic Enterprise Limited other than trying to collect the outstanding rent arrears from the company,” Mindra told court.
Ogwal recently formed a UPC break-away group from the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC).

Ogwal and her husband Lamek Ogwal, through their company, Rosmonic Enterprises limited, sued Uganda House Investments Limited, for wrongful eviction, claiming sh59,060,000 as compensation for goods allegedly destroyed during the eviction.

They are also claiming damages and interest for breach of tenancy agreement, conversion of their goods, loss of business and costs of the suit.
