UGANDA Breweries Limited (UBL) has handed this year’s Guinness Power of Goodness Award to Els De Temmerman, a Belgian-based human rights activist, for taking care of the needy in northern Uganda.
The general manager of WBS Television, Nicole Simani, and Guinness brand manager Suzanne Mpanga handed over the award to Temmerman at Spear House recently.
“The award recognises outstanding achievements. Many people would not give up their time and money to educate girls from the war-ravaged areas in Uganda. That’s why she was chosen,†Mpanga said.
The award aims at encouraging the unsung heroes in the society.
Els wrote a book about Aboke girls and donated all proceeds from its sales to educating the girls in the war-torn northern Uganda.
