THE Police are investigating the source of anonymous and seditious leaflets dropped by suspected rebels around Singo Military Training School in Luweero district on Friday.
The Regional Police Commander, Chris Bakesiima, said the leaflets, which threatened war against the Government were dropped three kilometres from the training school.
“The leaflets are handwritten in poor Kishwahili. They are warning people to vacate the area, that operations against the Government are about start,” he said.
Bakesima, however, said at the moment, the leaflets are being regarded as mere propaganda for lack any identity.
“We are investigating to find out how true this threat is but at the moment, we are taking it as the usual propaganda until we get something tangible. Otherwise how do you follow someone who doesn’t say who he is?” he asked.
The leaflets also warned of an impending attack on the barracks and advised residents to keep at bay.
Security sources on Saturday said copies of the letters were scrutinised by the Luweero District Security Committee, which sent them to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces’ headquarters in Bombo.
Sources said the leaflets asked residents to join the rebels.
