CHARLES Muhangi is cautious but intends to stop a trend that has turned his home turf into a hunting ground for Charlie Lubega.
That Muhangi will this time partner with vastly experienced co-driver Busingye Rwabwogo has boosted his chances of breaking the jinx at the Alpha Mbarara rally today. “It will all depend on circumstances like weather and how the car behaves,” was his cautious reply to questions about his chances.
TOTAL sponsored Lubega and co-driver Abed Musa seeking a fourth win of the season have camped in Mbarara since Thursday and should be more familiar with the challenging route.
Lubega (300 points) and Kuku Ranjit (225) will also be out to better their prospects for the national championship.
Scrutineering of cars will be conducted at 7.00am and the Kasenyi-Ruti opening section will get underway at 12.00 noon.
After lunch, two sections will be covered at the Boma ground super special stage.
Tomorrow cars will tackle four sections in Mbarara.
Alpha Dairy Products has sponsored the UMOSPOC organised rally.
