SIR— I would like to correct the impression created by your article in The New Vision of May 11, page 7 that the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) donated equipment worth $1m to the Uganda Amnesty Commission.
The correct information is that UNV has a project to promote human rights in Uganda through capacity building of three implementing agencies — the Ministry of Local Government, the Uganda Human Rights Commission and the Uganda Amnesty Commission.
The project is worth $1m for three years.
UNV could not have donated equipment worth that amount to one agency.
