JINJA — Seven men have appeared before the Grade Two Magistrate, Margaret Bakulimya, charged with defaulting paying graduated tax of sh8,000 each. Joseph Odur, Derison Luswata, Noah Kaima, John Lwanga, Nicholas Onyango, Muhammed Ali and Abdullah Kasajja, were on Monday remanded in custody until May 27 when the case comes for mention.

Farmers told
JINJA — The Uganda Coffee Development Authority assistant quality manager, Jane Nakandi, has urged coffee farmers in Busoga region to upgrade the quality of the commodity or else risk losing their share on the national export quota. She said this in a meeting with coffee dealers in Buyengo on Tuesday.

2 remanded
JINJA — Two men have been charged before Grade Two Magistrate Flex Omalla with theft of property worth sh750,000. John Kamilo and James Mugerwa allegedly stole property belonging to their employer, Seventh Day Adventist Primary School. They were on Monday remanded until June 12 when the case comes for mention.

RDC warns
JINJA — The deputy resident district commissioner, Tumwine Kameraho, has warned men against diverting loans from micro-finance institutions to marry more wives. He said this at a meeting of a poverty alleviation group at Main Street Primary School on Sunday.
