APAC — A mob recently lynched three men. Regional Police commander Jerome Byaryayanga on Tuesday said the three were among a group of six who robbed sh8m from employees of the House of Dawda at Loro swamp on the Kamdini-Lira Road. Byaryayanga said they were discovered in possession of coins worth sh700,000.

Radio gives
LIRA — 95.3 Lira FM radio station has started distributing seeds worth sh5m to the internally displaced persons in the district. Distributing over 150 bags of peagon pea seeds at Bala Stock Farm and Abonyotingere camps recently, station manager Morrise Odung Omara appealed to camp leaders to supervise the cultivation of the seeds.

Donors plan
LIRA — The education ministry and the donor community will visit northern Uganda to assess the conditions of children in the camps. Closing a workshop at St. Lira Hotel, primary education commissioner Sam Onek recently said the visit would guide them on how to plan for education support to the camps.

Farmers told
APAC — District agricultural officer Yovan Ogwang has advised farmers to follow the local weather forecast and plant during the rainy season. Addressing farmers at a workshop recently, Ogwang said this would enable them get high- quality yields.

NGO assists
LIRA — Platform for Labour Action, a children’s NGO, has donated sh1.8m to support the families of children withdrawn from doing domestic work. Handing over the money at White House Hotel recently, assistant chief administrator Patrick Abal said the money should be used to educate the children.

MP says
APAC — Kole county MP Stanley Omodi Okot has said the children’s rights law involves a lot of politics which makes it difficult for the illiterate to interpret it. Okot was addressing teachers during a seminar recently.
