Mike Mulindwa, 60, a staunch protestant in Kyengera sub-parish, recently aired out his complaint in public over too many baskets in the church.
During the church service, Mulindwa saw the baskets being passed around for offertory. He put in his contribution.
Later on, however, a second offertory was announced for contributing money towards a church building project. Thinking it a worthy cause, Mulindwa pulled out the last of his coins and put them in the basket.
However, no sooner had he settled down, than another basket was passed around, this time to collect money to aid a project for widows and orphans in the area.
This irritated Mulindwa, who had no more money to give and was fast losing his patience.
“I am tired of all these church baskets. Do you think we pick the money from trees? You will even make us fail to pray,” he burst out, causing prolonged laughter.
The comment sparked off a debate which almost halted the service.
