A POWER struggle has erupted within the Luweero district Movement caucus following the recent advent of the Movement Voice, a pressure group within the Movement system.

Movement Voice chairperson Marian Namayanja Kiwanuka, an employee of the State House, recently launched a campaign to open up branches in every sub-county in the district.

The move was, however, opposed by the district Movement chairman, Mwebaza, who said the Movement Voice was funded by the Parliamentary Advocacy Forum (PAFO).

Mwebaza recently called an executive meeting during which he ordered the new group to suspend its activities.

However, leaders of the Movement Voice among whom are Buganda youth MP Rose Mayanja, Katikamu North MP Lt. Jimmy Kinobe and Sebina Sekitoleko, the Movement Voice spokesman, said they would not go by Mwebaza’s orders.

“The Movement is not for Mwebaza alone. It is for all of us.

He thinks we want to take his chair, which is not true,” Sebina said.

Kinobe said the group aimed at providing a common platform for Movement volunteers, adding that they had no bad intention as alleged by Mwebaza.

He said they would continue opening up new branches in Luweero.
