State minister for security Betty Akech has appealed to the Acholi to support President Yoweri Museveni and give him a third term in office.

Akech (right), who was the chief guest at a party to celebrate the promotion of Lt. Col. Charles Otema-Awany to Colonel at Acholi Inn Hotel in Gulu town on Sunday, advised the Acholi to rally behind President Museveni and the Movement in 2006.

“Movement oyee! oyee! Continue supporting Museveni and give him a third term,” she said.

Akech said Otema’s promotion showed that Museveni loved northern leaders and recognised their work in building the country.

She said Museveni needed another term to complete the projects he had initiated for the Acholi.

She urged other UPDF soldiers not yet promoted to work harder and emulate Col. Otema because “Museveni only gives promotion on merits”.

She commended Otema for his effort in bringing peace in Acholi, Lango and Teso sub-regions.
Gulu LC5 chief Lt. Col. Walter Ochora attended.
