Environmental award winners tour Germany

NINE people, including a New Vision journalist in Bushenyi district have left for the Republic of Germany after winning various awards in domestication, herbal medicine and environmental protection.

NINE people, including a New Vision journalist in Bushenyi district have left for the Republic of Germany after winning various awards in domestication, herbal medicine and environmental protection.
Rukararwe Partnership Workshop for Rural Development (RPWRD), a local NGO based in Nyamiko near Bushenyi town, gave the awards.
Chris Ahimbisibwe, a reporter for Orumuri newspaper, was selected as the best environmental reporter. Peace Tibakuna got a prize as the best woman tree-planter.
Christine Natukunda and Hope Kyarisiima, both students, won prizes for excelling in environmental essay-writing.
Two farmers, Patrick Rweihangwe and Jaberi Katumwesigye and a community worker, Ivan Byanyima, excelled in environmental-friendly farming.
Rukararwe director Samson Nyine-Bitahwa led the group that is visiting environmental and modern agricultural programmes in Germany.
