NINE days after qualifying for the Olympics with a personal best of 27:29.95 in the 10,000m, Wilson Kipkemei Busnei was at it again, running his fastest ever in the 5000m.
The Ndejje University student clocked 13:25.93 to finish third in the Spitzenleichtathletik meet in Switzerland but narrowly failed to hit the Athens Olympics qualifying time on Wednesday.
The qualifying mark is 13:25.40.
Kipkemei finished behind Kenyans David Kilel (13:23.43) and Pius Muli (13:23.64).
His best previously for the 5,000m was 14:08.90, which he set at Namboole last year.
Meanwhile, Boniface Kiprop (right) will have his final build up race when the 2004 Golden League circuit begins at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway today.
Kiprop is preparing for the World Junior championships next month in Italy. The national record holder in both the 5000m (7:47.15) and 10000m (13:11.46), will take on stars like Ethiopia’s Gebremariam Gebre-Egziabher, Wondimu Mulengeta, Kenyans John Kibowen and David Kiplak.

Local athletes still nursing the ambition of qualifying for the August Olympic Games in Athens have a chance tomorrow to show their worth during the Athletics Kampala Track and Field Trials reports Sabiiti Muwanga.
The championships will be at the Makerere University Main Ground from 9.00 am.
