WORKS, housing and communication minister John Nasasira has warned Kampala City Council (KCC) against constructing buildings in the city without proper plans.

“Enough is enough. We can’t continue like this. We are experiencing problems because of poor planning and construction of buildings without plans,” he said.

Nasasira was yesterday inspecting the on-going construction of the 7.9km Nsambya-Ggaba road works scheduled to be completed by August.

The minister was accompanied by city engineer Abraham Byandala, Ministry of Works chief engineer Bagonza and traffic chief Gabriel Tibayungwa.

“The work so far done is commendable, but the major problem we are facing is that of poor planning,” Nasasira said.
He cautioned residents against harassing the Japanese workers of KONOIKE Road Construction, who are constructing the US$3m road.

“I have received complaints. Why harass the Japanese yet it’s their taxpayers money that we are using to construct the road,” Nasasira said.

The Japanese government has done similar road works on the Natete-Wakaliga road, Nakawa junction, Wandegeya and Bakuli.
