<b>‘Fight graft’ </b><br>SOROTI — The LC5 chairman, Capt. John Emily Otekat, has appealed to the district public accounts committee (PAC) to fight corruption.

SOROTI — The LC5 chairman, Capt. John Emily Otekat, has appealed to the district public accounts committee (PAC) to fight corruption. He said this during the swearing-in of the new committee at the Lukiiko Hall recently. Otekat said most PAC activities were hampered by political interference and urged them to be impartial.

EC rapped
MUBENDE — The district speaker, the Rt. Rev. Enock Kasirabo Mushaija, has criticised the Electoral Commission (EC) for failing to conduct by-elections for two years to replace councillors who have died, resigned or been voted out office. He said this during the reading of the district budget at Kaweri council chambers.

Officers told
BUSIA — Public service commissioners Francis Ntalazi and Paul Okot Okello have asked district service commissions to be honest, ethical and morally upright when executing their duties. They said this during an induction course for district service commissioners at Busia Social Hall recently.

Violence
LIRA — Alfred Okello Oryem of the legal and public relations department at the Electoral Commission recently attributed violence during campaigns and elections to the commercialisation of the electoral process. He was presenting a paper at a workshop in the town recently.
