After successful launches in Jinja, Mbarara and Mbale, the Pearl of Music Award caravan rolls in Kampala for the Central Region launch today at Speak Hotel’s Rock Gardens. He said those to perform today are Abdumurasi of the Njakusiba Farm fame, Howzit (Jinja), Mosh and Kefa (Dance Carolina, Kampala), Kas Alfa (Machine, Kampala,) Gospel artist Juliet Mugirya (Were Weffe, Mbale) Sister Charity and Rasta Charz (Mbarara). Kisubi Seminary takes trophy
By Mathias Mazinga

KISUBI Minor Seminary has earned an overwhelming victory after lifting two trophies in the Kampala Archdiocese Post-Primary Schools Music Festival held at Pope Paul Memorial Community Centre recently.
The seminary choir was the best in the category of Mass choirs with 220 points. The choir also beat others at Sight reading with 92 points. The choir performed Fr. Kabuye’s Cry Out To The Lord and The Lord is Great (Haydn). With maximum sensitivity to the composers’ written expressions, they sang high notes with utmost ease.
The choir also proved their competence in African traditional music. They sang Fr. Kabuye’s Ani Akwenkana, a Luganda re-affirmation of the omnipotence of God adopted from Prophet Jeremiah’s oracles. The choir also used well-tuned Tube Fiddles, Bowl-lyre, Pan pipes, drums, Xylophones and Calabash shakers to give their performance a typical African flavour that thrilled the audience. “This is the lord’s doing. We are glad at it,” Rev. Denis Mpanga, the choir’s trainer rejoiced after receiving the trophies.
St. Catherine Nabbingo SSS choir took the trophy for the Chamber Choirs’ category with 210 points, while Our Lady of Africa Lubaga Girls SSS choir got 191 points to take the trophy for the Equal choirs category.
