BUNDIBUGYO district leaders have declared their support for the lifting of the presidential term limit to allow a third term for President Yoweri Museveni.
The district chairperson, Jackson Bambalira, presented a three-pronged spear as a symbol of their support for the third term and two stools for the President and the first lady, Janet Museveni.
Museveni was visiting the district to meet district leaders and residents on Thursday.
“Bundibugyo district is behind you and we support the third term,” Bambalira said at a rally at the Boma Grounds.
Museveni pledged to tarmack the Fort Portal-Bundibugyo road.
He also said funds to finance the extension of electricity to Bundibugyo had been secured and work would commence in March 2005.
Museveni was welcomed by over 120 boda bodas from neighbouring Kabarole district, bedecked with dry banana leaves, symbolising the third term.
Area MPs Jane Alisemera (Woman MP), Rogers Matte (Ntoroko) and state minister for minerals Kamanda Bataringaya (Bwamba) flashed the three finger sign for the third term.
