GULU resident district commissioner Max Omeda has called upon residents to join hands with the UPDF and all security organs to fight and end the LRA rebellion.
He said without peace, there would be no development in the district.
Omeda said this during a security meeting at Amuru sub-county in Kilak county on Monday.

LC5 appeals
MUKONO LC5 chairman Godfrey Damulira has appealed to the Government to consider re-instating UPE funds in private primary schools.
Damulira, while addressing teachers of Mukono Town Council primary schools at Bishops West Primary School on Thursday, said leaving out pupils in private schools would seem like a discrimination against them.

MPs rapped
A member of the Uganda Public Employees Union has criticised workers’ MPs for not living up to the expectations of their constituents.
Speaking at an advocacy workshop for workers rights and equity promotion at workplaces at the Communications Centre Hall in Mbale town on Tuesday, Wycliffe Ouma said the five workers MPs were not addressing issues affecting workers.

Court hears
COURT brokers who evicted Lira Municipality MP Cecilia Ogwal’s family shop from Uganda House in 1996 had no authority, court heard yesterday.
Abdullah Balunywa, a bailiff, told Commercial Court judge Stella Amoko on Thursday that he carried out the eviction without a court order.
He was testifying in a case where Ogwal’s Rosmonic Enterprises, sued Uganda House Investments over loss of merchandise worth over sh60m.

IN our July 8 page 5 story “EC advises,” we inadvertently reported that the Electoral Commission had advised all persons below 18 years to register under the ongoing registration of voters. The truth is that the EC advised persons aged 18 years and above to register. We regret any inconvenience caused.
