LOCAL businessmen Charles Mbire and Patrick Bitature are exploring the possibility of starting helicopter charter services in Uganda to fill the current vacuum.
“Mbire and Bitature are negotiating with a Nairobi-based firm, Everret Aviation Services, which owns four choppers.

“It will be a lease arrangement with Everret and not an outright purchase of the chopper,” said a source. Mbire is also an MTN director.Under the deal, Bitature’s Simba Tours and Travel will market the chopper service. Everret Aviation belongs to Capt. Chris Everret, a British national living in Kenya.

Everret has already dispatched its French-made helicopter to conduct test flights in Uganda.

On Saturday, the chopper flew Mayur Madhvani from Kakira to Nile Gardens in just 18 minutes.
Presently, Uganda lacks private chopper charter services for emergency cases.
