KAMWENGE woman MP Aidah Mehangye has called for the increased promotion of condom use among youths in the Rwenzori region.

“Knowing what the Allied Democratic Forces war did to this region, we should not discourage the use of condoms. Youths need to protect themselves with these little things (condoms) until ARVs can eventually reach everybody,” she said.

Mehangye was speaking at the launch of the global fund project for Rwenzori region on Saturday.

Dr. Kamanda Bataringaya, the mineral state minister, launched the project at Parents’ Concern offices in Fort Portal town.

Parents Concern for young people, an NGO, was chosen as the implementing agency for the global fund in the Rwenzori region and is to receive sh700m to fight HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria over a period of five years.

Rwenzori region is made up of Kamwenge, Kyenjojo, Bundibguyo, Kasese, and Kabarole districts.
