<b>Poacher dead</b> <br>MBARARA — Game rangers in Lake Mburo National Park on Thursday battled a group of armed poachers hunting for elephants in Kigarama hills.

MBARARA — Game rangers in Lake Mburo National Park on Thursday battled a group of armed poachers hunting for elephants in Kigarama hills. The district Police chief, Patrick Akubu, said one poacher was killed and a gun recovered. Officials at the park said poachers had killed many buffalos, elephants and antelopes.

Officer shot
Nakapiripirit — The district co-ordinator for social services and development for Moroto Diocese, Joseph Lorika, was on Friday shot at the Karamoja border on his way from Mbale. A witness said gunmen opened fire at a car belonging to Moroto Diocese. The district CID officer, John Bulega, on Saturday said the security situation in the district had worsened.

Bbumba told
KAMPALA — Lubaga South MP Ken Lukyamuzi has advised energy minister Syda Bbumba to resign before the President sacks her over power rationing and load shedding. Addressing the press at Parliament yesterday, Lukyamuzi said importing electricity from Kenya was “an act of distrust and insecurity which could lead to a censure if not resignation.”

Chinese held
KAMPALA — The Police have arrested a Chinese man who murdered his uncle and injured his cousin on Saturday. Wang Nan, who is reported to have crossed into the country recently, was arrested on Sunday at Malaba border as he tried to flee. The city Police chief, Benson Oyo Nyeko, said Wang could be a serial killer.
