Several transport companies whose buses were destroyed by the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) and the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF)rebels have appealed to President Yoweri Museveni to help them get compensated.

“Whenever we ask him (Museveni) about our fate, he says I have directed so and so to work on it but the directives end there. So we are asking him to help us because his officers are not implementing what he directs them to do,” a Lowi Roadways Bus Company official who declined to be named, said last week.

The company’s managing director, Ceaser Tokoma, said he lost four buses and a lorry while Victoria Nile, Jetline and Rising Star Bus Companies lost a bus each.

Other companies which lost buses include Otada, Nile Coaches, Ondura Omoto, ANKK Express and Contour Bus Services Limited.

“We lost seven buses three of which were completely burnt at Adjumani, Arua and Soroti while four others were damaged in ambushes by the LRA on Adjumani Road and at Ochero in Keberamaido,” Gateway Bus Company spokesman Hassan Islow said.
