Eight Congolese, including five suspected rebels, have been arrested in Biiso sub-county in Masindi district for illegally entering Uganda.

Deputy resident district commissioner Hussein Matanda on Tuesday said the suspected rebels were handed over to the army, while the Police detained the civilians.

The civilian Congolese appeared before Masindi Grade One Magistrate Gimugu Kabiri and were charged with illegal entry into the country.

They were remanded in Masindi Prison.
Matanda said the suspected rebels were under Congolese rebel chief Kaahwa Mandro Kanga’s PUSIC group.
