Kihungya is located near Lake Albert in Biiso sub-county, where Congolese are said to have settled illegally.
“We saw a group of about 10 boys running before smoke emitted from the headmaster’s office,†said a P7 pupil, who lives near the school.
The fire, which started at about 11:00pm, destroyed school documents in the offices of the headmaster, his deputy and the clerk.
Sub-county LC3 chief Mugenyi Malitabu on Thursday decried the act and blamed the Congolese for allegedly terrorising the sub-county.
“This has been one of the best schools in this sub-county,†he said.
