NATIONAL Universities Basketball Union (NUBU) has launched the national universities league that will be run annually to help build a sportsmanship spirit among universities.
The league, that is the first of its kind in the region, is governed by the National Universities Board, a body different from the Federation of the Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA).
Seven universities have so far registered for the league in which Kampala International University (KIU) and Kyambogo University picked up victories in the inaugural games played last Friday.
KIU, Kyambogo, Makerere, Uganda Christian University, Nkozi, Nkumba and Makerere University College of Business Studies (MUBS) are the teams in the league.
“The league will be played every Friday on a home and away basis,†league secretary, David Consio said.
