<b>Status given</b><br>KISORO — Thirty-eight Congolese, who fled their homes in North Kivu province a week ago, have been granted refugee status and will be relocated from Kisoro Transit Camp to Kyaka II in Kyenjojo.

KISORO — Thirty-eight Congolese, who fled their homes in North Kivu province a week ago, have been granted refugee status and will be relocated from Kisoro Transit Camp to Kyaka II in Kyenjojo. UN High Commissioner for Refugees official in Mbarara Adan Diis Ilmi yesterday said the Congolese were genuine asylum seekers.

Mob attacks
LUWEERO — A mob on Wednesday attacked the local administration Police who had arrested two robbery suspects. The mob wanted to lynch Patrick Kyambadde and George Alibbo, who were allegedly found with a gun and some stolen items.

Army launch
GULU — The army has launched an operation to crack down on soldiers loitering in the town. The operation, which started recently, aims at arresting UPDF idlers. Northern-based army spokesman Lt. Paddy Ankunda (above) said they arrested over 20 soldiers.

Anthrax kills
KASESE — A 35-year old man has died, after eating the meat of a hippo suspected to have been killed by anthrax in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Velina Baluku of Kinyamaseke trading centre in Munkunyu sub-county, died at Kagando Hospital on Monday.
