six Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels were reportedly killed in separate battles in Gulu district, when the group led by Vincent Otti was attacked by the UPDF on Saturday and Sunday, the army said.
According to the northern-based army spokesman, Lt. Paddy Ankunda, three LRA rebels were killed and two captives rescued.
A sub-machine gun containing two full rounds of bullets was also recovered at Lamin-Latoo, east of Gulu town.
In Binya, Lalogi sub-county, Omoro county on the Gulu-Moroto road, the army said it killed another LRa rebel.
The army said a rifle, with three loaded magazines, was recovered from the rebel.
On Sunday afternoon, the army said the UPDF 79th battalion attacked another LRA splinter group of Otti’s in Wii-Ciri and killed at least two fighters out of a suspected group of about six.
