THE youth in Kiboga district have rejected the Government’s proposal to create regional tiers, saying this would weaken the administrative units and cultural institutions.

They asked the Government to maintain the current structure but increase funding to the districts for effective delivery.

“The tier system is not viable and is not result-oriented. The Government needs to commit more funds to the districts and streamline their services,” said Israel Iga, Kiboga district Movement coordinator and district youth vice-chairman.

He said this during a meeting on the government’s white paper on Wednesday. The meeting was organised by Kiboga East MP Dan Kiwalabye in Lwamata town.
Kiwalabye said the regional tier system is a trap to weaken the Kabaka.

He attacked political parties for not doing enough to support the opening up of political space.

Kiwalabye said Movement supporters were concerned that the NRM-O was taking too long to go down to organise.
