Acholi clerics praises Museveni on ceasefire

THE Acholi cultural and religious leaders have congratulated President Yoweri Museveni for declaring a seven-day ceasefire with the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels to enable a peaceful resolution of the northern conflict.

THE Acholi cultural and religious leaders have congratulated President Yoweri Museveni for declaring a seven-day ceasefire with the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels to enable a peaceful resolution of the northern conflict.
The leaders said, “We are pleased and congratulate the President for the positive response given to the LRA. We also congratulate the LRA leadership and all those involved in initiative,†the joint press statement by the cultural and religious leaders dated November 15 read.
The statement was signed by Archbishop John Baptist Odama from Gulu Archdiocese and Acholi paramount chief Rwot David Onen Acana II.
They appealed to LRA leaders to start dialogue with the Government immediately.
President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday declared a ceasefire with the LRA in Patiko, Atyak, Atanga and Palabek to enable the rebels gather and talk peace with the government.
