The story so far:

Samsoni accompanies his father, who is the LC secretary for security, to a big house where there has been a robbery, only to find that his new friend Gus lives there;

The story continues:

“What about you son? When did you last see the radio and the watch?”
“I have never seen the radio or the watch sir. I think Mr. Kasonga keeps them in his bedroom and I'm not allowed upstairs,” Gus replied sweetly. Poor Samsoni covered his face with his hands.
“Yes, yes,” his mother nodded vigorously, “Gus would never go upstairs.”
Mr. Mulondo wrote down Gus' words and then put the notebook back in his pocket.
“Is there anyone else who comes to the house regularly?” Mulondo turned to Kasonga.
“Well, there's my driver. He collects the car from the garage every morning and parks it back there in the evening. But I don't think he comes into the house,” Kasonga frowned.
“Well you never know. I will speak to him tomorrow,” Mr Mulondo stood up. “In the meantime, I will ask around the village and see if anyone knows anything.”
Samsoni followed his father to the front door and when he passed Gus, he made sure he kept looking straight ahead.
At school the next day, Samsoni waited for Gus at the school gate.
“You stole Mr. Kasonga's radio!” Samsoni burst out as soon as Gus came walking through the gate with a bounce.
“Of course I didn't, I just borrowed it,” Gus laughed.
“What about the watch. Are you the one who took the watch?” Samsoni cried.
“It's right here on my wrist,” Gus smiled as he rolled back the sleeve of his jumper. Samsoni's eyes nearly popped out at the sight of the gleaming gold watch around Gus' wrist.
“You must take it back!” Samsoni gasped, “and the radio, I’ve brought it for you to take back.”
Gus shook his head.
“What if I want to keep them? I still want to borrow them for a while,” Gus laughed.
Samsoni, who had been walking behind Gus to the classroom, pulled hard at Gus' sweater.
“Stop!” Samsoni hissed. “If you don't return those things, I will report you.”
Gus turned around and brought his face close to Samsoni.
“If you report me, you report yourself. You're the one who was with the radio last night. You even bought the radio batteries, remember? If you think I'm a thief. You're a thief too.”
