FLORENCE Akello’s 24-point burst helped MUK-Sparks to square the MTN women’s basketball league playoff final 1-1 against Lady Bucks in game two yesterday.
Sparks had looked in trouble in the final quarter of game one of the best-of-five series, losing 48-50 to give Bucks a 1-0 lead.
But Sparks revived their chances with a 58-50 win, overturning their rivals’ 1-0 lead to even the series. They meet again at Lugogo on Wednesday.
Meanwhile Falcons won 67-66 over Rhinos in game one of the men’s playoffs. Rhinos Saturday to go 1-0 up in the first division series.
Diego Angemi and Robert Mugabe shot 14 points apiece for the Rhinos who will need to emulate Sparks with a morale boosting victory in game two to stay in title contention.
