JUDICIAL officers need training to improve their services to court users, Principal Judge James Ogoola has said.

JUDICIAL officers need training to improve their services to court users, Principal Judge James Ogoola has said.
He was recently awarding certificates to 18 non-judicial staff members who completed courses in legal terminology and court procedures at the Law Development Centre (LDC).
“The Americans say ‘walk n’ walk, and not talk n’ talk,’ meaning that they should be mobile and not remain static and give mere lip service,†Ogoola said.
At a ceremony at the Commercial Court in Kampala, Ogoola said unless staff members and the support staff were trained, they would not be able to fit in a challenging atmosphere.
He said previously, litigants went to the Commercial Court as adversaries, but currently they go to settle their disputes, a situation that needs more trained personnel to handle.
LDC director Elijah Wante urged the graduates to implement the knowledge they had acquired during their training, so that the court users could find a notable difference.
He commended the graduates for their eagerness to acquire more knowledge and for being well behaved during their courses.
John Mary Mugisha, the head of department for continuing legal education, who was also the course organiser, said all the participants had satisfied their lecturers.
