CAA finalises US flights plan

CIVIL Aviation Authority (CAA) is in the final stage of attaining Category 1 Classification needed for direct flights to the US.

CIVIL Aviation Authority (CAA) is in the final stage of attaining Category 1 Classification needed for direct flights to the US, CAA’s managing director, Ambrose Akandonda (left), has said.
“We have passed most of the safety and security audits by the American Federal Aviation Authority. We are remaining with one step,†Akandonda said recently.
He said after the classification is granted, trade between the US and Uganda will be easier.
Akandonda said the US had given CAA security equipment worth $1m.
“This is in line with the classification because of its strong security aspect,†he said.
