Rutehenda takes to farming

The outgoing mayor of Mbarara municipality, Robert Rutehenda, has said he intends to be one of the biggest diary farmers in the district, reports Vision Reporter.Rutehenda alias Bonga has been mayor since 1989. He lost to Wilson Tumwine, a prominent Mbarara businessman, in the LC4 elections.Rutehenda said before he joined politics, he was a farmer and that since he has been ousted from his mayoral seat, he will go back to farming with more vigour.“I used to be a diary farmer and I still have a ranch in Nyabushozi. Now that I am no longer mayor, I want concentrate on it,” he told The New Vision on Thursday.Rutehenda said during his term of office, he had struggled to acquire market for Mbarara’s milk and that if his efforts are not frustrated by the incoming leaders, he would not lack where to sell milk from his farm.
