Ex-civil servants to be paid again

CIVIL servants retrenched in the last few years will be paid again because the Government realised that they were given small packages, reports Fortunate Ahimibisibwe.The Rubaga North MP, Mr Tom Kayongo, revealed this at a graduation ceremony for the Institute of Professional Accounting and Business Administration recently.At the ceremony, 49 students were awarded Diplomas in Secretarial studies, Institutional Catering and Hotel Management and Business Administration.Kayongo is a committee member on both the Parliamentary Public Service and the Public and Local Government committees.“Government under the Ministry of Public Service has decided to give more money to civil servants laid off in the recent past because they were given small retrenchment packages,” Kayongo said.He further revealed that the Government would release sh5b for this purpose.Kayongo urged those affected to verify their documents and begin reclaiming their packages.
