Toroitich leads Ethiopia marathon team

UGANDA Amateur Athletics Federation (UAAF) yesterday selected three junior cross-country athletes to participate in the Jan Meda international championship February 24 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The official to escort the team on the fully sponsored trip will be named today.“They are the best we have and we expect them to put up a great performance,” said UAAF general secretary Patrick Okanya yesterday.“The juniors have represented us well in international meets and we hope they will do it in Ethiopia.”However, beyond the cash prizes, diploma and certificates that the top three teams will be receiving, is the warm up of the athletes in preparation for the World cross-country championship in Durblin.The athletes are currently under going high altitude training in Kapchwora. They are also expected to run in the East Africa Amateur cross-country championship March 2 at Entebbe botanical garden.ends
