Uplink station at Nakasero broke down but is under repair

SIR—I wish to inform UTV viewers and listeners in Mbarara and in other areas who are not getting UTV and Radio Uganda FM signals that the satellite uplink station at Nakasero broke down on Februaru 7.

SIR—I wish to inform UTV viewers and listeners in Mbarara and in other areas who are not getting UTV and Radio Uganda FM signals that the satellite uplink station at Nakasero broke down on Februaru 7. However, everything is being done to rectify the situation as soon as possible. The units which failed in the station have been sent to the manufacturers in USA for repairs. According to the manufacturers, the repairs will be completed towards the end of February. UTV stations and Radio Uganda FM in Mbarara, Masaka and Kabale will soon be revived with the help of UTL land microwave link. Services of the following stations will however, be revived when the satellite uplink station in Nakasero becomes operational again: Masindi, Lira, Jinja, Hoima, Fort Portal and Lira.
