Coaches storm schools

TWENTY-one mini cricket coaches have entered their second week of spreading mini cricket to 94 primary schools in four regions across Uganda.

By Ronnie Kintu TWENTY-one mini cricket coaches have entered their second week of spreading mini cricket to 94 primary schools in four regions across Uganda. The coaches, who underwent training early this month under the auspices of local development officer William Kamanyi, are passing on cricket skills to primary schools in over 15 districts.“We (Uganda Cricket Association) dispatched the coaches last week and each district is hosting a group of four every week,” remarked Arthur Nuwagaba, UCA’s administrative officer. International player Junior Kwebiiha is on the team along side under 19 national players Emmanuel Gonahasa and Amos Kyazze. Development coaches Bashir Anasasira and Richard Ssempa are also on the task force organised by the national association under the Mini Cricket Schools Development Programme (MCSDP).The contingent distributed mini cricket equipment from MCSDP that included bats, balls, gloves and stumps to the selected primary schools in each district last week.The areas of coverage are categorised as Eastern region, Nile, Central and Western region. In the Central region, schools benefiting include Kibuli Demonstration, Kampala Parents, Rainbow Academy, Budo Junior and Aga Khan.ends
