I applaud Vice-President Kazibwe

SIR— I applaud the Vice-President for coming out and taking appropriate action on the abusive husband.

SIR— I applaud the Vice-President for coming out and taking appropriate action on the abusive husband. As a leader and the most powerful woman in Africa, she has set a very good example for the rest of us Uganda women and women worldwide. How can he say he slapped her “only” twice; even once is too many. Mr Kazibwe should be prosecuted for attempted assassination of the Vice-President.Now that we all know that domestic violence has no boundaries e.g. education, status or age, women should rise up and fight this inhumanity similar to the way we are fighting AIDS. It used to be a taboo to talk about sex and AIDS, I am glad it is no more. Similarly, I hope it won’t be taboo any more to educate people about domestic abuse.Mr Kazibwe cannot convince me that except for the slaps, everything else he did in the marriage was pleasant to his wife. For Mr Kazibwe to even make it an issue that his benefits had been withdrawn and his belongings thrown out is absurd; he should know that when you play with fire you get burnt.Florence KaigwaKampala
