By Josephine MaserukaTHE First Lady, Mrs. Janet Museveni, will today launch the Jimmy Carter Work Project Africa 2002 in Nangabo, Wakiso district. The project is designated to build 100 homes, five of which will be for children orphaned by Aids.In her three-page broadcast appeal code-named ‘No more shacks in Uganda,’ Mrs Museveni urged Ugandans to join hands with Habitat for Humanity Uganda, to build and renovate houses in order to change lives.“I have made this call before and I am doing it again to all God-fearing people that there is no better language in which to express our love for our neighbours than providing them shelter through constructing simple, decent and affordable houses,” she said.Mrs. Museveni said when families have a home, they have a stake in society which is part of the process of making one a responsible citizen.A total of 3,000 such houses have been built in Uganda from the vision of Milliard and Linda Fuller and the former US President Jimmy Carter.
