By Norman Katende NATIONAL Football League Committee (NFLC) has threatened to ban referee Fred Mufuta if they find out that SC Villa’s controversial goal that Ismail Kigozi scored against Kasese was not genuine. The match which Villa won 1-0 was held at Kasese on April 6.NFLC secretary Justus Mugisha yesterday said that the committee, in their meeting set for next Saturday, is going to review the tape Kasese presented as evidence in their petition against the Villa victory.Kasese alleged that the goal passed through the side net.“The rules are clear. Villa will not lose the points but it is the referee to be punished in case it is proved that the goal was not genuine. We will ban him from all our matches,” said Mugisha.Mugisha added that strictness will help to improve the football standards.Mufuta was runner up in last year’s nominations for the best referee, behind Ali Kalyango.Mugisha also said that Kasese was to be fined for selling illegal tickets at the same match.“These people sold the tickets well knowing that it is illegal. We are going to fine them on top of asking them to refund the money,” said Mugisha.About Villa fundraising, Mugisha said the club had written to them but the letter awaits review by NFLC.ends
